Wildflower Wedding Stationery Ideas: From Invitations to the Table
By Beth, founder of Graceful Studio · Updated

Wildflowers run through most of our designs, and it’s easy to see why so many couples choose them. They feel relaxed but romantic, suit a barn as well as a country house, and work in every season. These are the ideas we share most often with couples planning a meadow-inspired wedding.
What makes stationery “wildflower”?
Wildflower stationery is all about flowers that look as if they’ve just been gathered from a meadow: loose stems, soft watercolour and plenty of white space. Common motifs include:
- Meadow borders: a strip of flowers along the bottom of the card, as if growing up from the grass.
- Scattered florals: single stems, petals and butterflies dotted around the wording.
- Framed designs: climbing stems around the edge, a little more formal and lovely for autumn.
- Little details: bees, butterflies and dragonflies bring the design to life.

Choosing your wildflower colour palette
Wildflower designs are naturally colourful, so pick two or three accent colours from the illustration and repeat them in your envelopes, ribbon, table linen and flowers. These pairings work beautifully:
| Palette | Flowers that match | Envelope pairing |
|---|---|---|
| Soft pastel meadow | Lilac, blush, butter yellow, white cosmos | Ivory Fleck, Blush or Oat |
| Cornflower blue | Cornflowers, forget-me-nots, white daisies | Blue or Luxury Ivory |
| Sage & olive | Greenery, chamomile, white meadow flowers | Fern or Natural |
| Autumn meadow | Marigold, rust, wheat and dried grasses | Terracotta or Kraft |
| Evening wildflower | Deep purples and lavender | Midnight or Ivy |
The pieces of a wildflower wedding suite
The prettiest wildflower weddings carry one design through every piece, from the first invitation to the last place card:
- Invitations, RSVP and details card: the heart of the suite. See the Grace Wildflower Invitation Set.
- Save the dates: a single stem or a small posy, like our Pink Floral Save the Date.
- Menus: tall menus with a meadow border, such as the Wildflower Meadow Menu.
- Table numbers: a large painted number guests can spot from across the room. Try the Meadow Wildflower Table Numbers.
- Place cards: each guest’s name in script with a sprig of flowers, like the Wildflower Place Name Cards.
- Reserved seat tags: for the front row at the ceremony, such as our Blush Pink Reserved Seat Tag.

Wildflower ideas for the tables
- Match the table number to the centrepiece. A lilac number beside lilac stocks and lavender ties the table together.
- Name your tables after wildflowers, such as Cornflower, Foxglove, Poppy and Honeysuckle, instead of numbers.
- Combine menu and place card by tying a name tag to each menu with satin ribbon, so there’s one piece per place setting.
- Lay a lavender sprig or a single stem on each menu for scent and colour.
- Use gold or wooden stands for table numbers so they stand tall above the flowers.
- Keep the linen soft: ivory, sage or a lilac runner lets the illustrations stand out.

Seasonal UK wildflowers to match your stationery
Tell your florist which design you’ve chosen. Most will happily match the flowers in your stationery. In the UK, these are easy to find in season:
| Season | Wildflowers and meadow-style flowers |
|---|---|
| Spring | Forget-me-nots, cow parsley, blossom, tulips, muscari |
| Summer | Cornflowers, cosmos, ox-eye daisies, scabious, sweet peas, lavender, poppies |
| Autumn | Dahlias, rudbeckia, chrysanthemums, grasses, wheat and seed heads |
| Winter | Dried flowers and grasses, hellebores, eucalyptus and other evergreen foliage |
Wildflowers aren’t only for summer. For autumn, look at warmer illustrations like our Autumn Floral Barn Owl Invitation, with sunflowers, wheat and a barn owl.
Finishing touches
- Satin ribbon and bows on menus and invitations, in a colour picked from the flowers.
- Wax seals on envelopes, in pearl, gold or a soft colour to match.
- Coloured envelopes that echo one of the flowers in the design.
- Printed guest names on envelopes in the same script as your invitations.

Frequently asked questions
What is wildflower wedding stationery?
+
Stationery illustrated with loose, meadow-style flowers such as cosmos, cornflowers, poppies, daisies and lavender, often in soft watercolour with butterflies and bees, on white or ivory card.
What colours go with a wildflower wedding?
+
Pick two or three colours from the flowers: lilac and blush for a soft pastel look, cornflower blue and white for something classic, sage and olive for greenery, or marigold and terracotta for autumn. Repeat them in envelopes, ribbon and table linen.
Can I have wildflower stationery for an autumn or winter wedding?
+
Yes. Choose warmer illustrations with sunflowers, wheat and seed heads for autumn, or deeper purples and midnight envelopes for winter, and pair them with dried flowers and foliage.
Can my stationery match my wedding flowers?
+
Yes. Share your chosen design with your florist, who can usually match the flowers in the illustration. Many of our designs can also be tweaked, for example changing flower colours to match your bouquet.
Which wildflower stationery pieces do I need?
+
Most couples have invitations with an RSVP and details card, then menus, place cards, table numbers and a seating plan on the day. Save the dates and reserved seat tags are lovely extras.
